This past weekend was busy, as any day, but this time I decided to jot a couple things down along the way because my "mom" brain kicks in and I tend to forget.As we were outside, the kids and I found a frog and decided to catch him and put him in Carter's bug catcher, which he's been using ALL SUMMER. I'm not sure how Carter chooses to make some decisions, but he carried the bug catcher in the house. You know where this one is going? Next thing I know, he comes back outside and is crying because the frog got out and jumped onto his bed. Yep! The next thing we do is wait to see if there is any movement at all in his room. Luckily, I spotted something near the closet door and was able to retrieve it. I never did end up asking him why it was brought into the house....the boy was in tears! While I'm putting the laundry away, I see Carter with the kitchen stool with the water running. I go and look to see what he's doing and he's dousing this poor frog with water because I told him to put water in there for him (by using a milk cap, not the water sprayer!). Needless to say, that frog didn’t make it, but I’m pretty sure Carter learned a lesson. Meanwhile, I realize that Carlee is awfully quiet and that's always trouble! I call her name and I hear her in the basement. I walk down the steps and, to my surprise, she was using sidewalk chalk to draw on the floor. No big deal, I guess.....I actually left it there for now because it looks kind of cute, and it's JUST a basement.
Later that night while tucking Carter into bed, he asked me if I could sleep with him when I go to sleep. I said, "Sure I can". Then he said something pretty sweet....."I'll save this pillow for you, Ma" as he was setting my favorite pillow for me to use. This was the moment I spent all day waiting for. J

Sunday was spent at Mondeaux Dam with the family. The kids had a great time and it was nice getting together with Angie and her family, Bobby and my dad and Nadine. It was a little difficult being there without Grandma this time. When I walked over to the dam, I couldn't help but look near her favorite "fishing hole". She just loved it at Mondeaux!
Note to self: Next time, must tell Angie that we're meeting 2 hours before we actually are. We really need to do this more often than we do!! Thanks, Bobby, for getting us all together. J |
