Finally, Some Time Outside!

It’s been a couple weeks since you last heard from me….wow, how time flies when you’re busy outside!!  We’ve been keeping ourselves occupied; that’s for sure.   Last week, Carter had his 4K Spring Program.  I can’t believe he only has 1 more day of 4K left.  Next year he’ll be a big kid and go to school every day.  That will be quite different for us!

Friday we had Ashley’s graduation in Medford.  Compared to my 42 classmates (I think), 180 kids is a lot!!  They had a nice ceremony though.  Seniors these days look so young!   Congratulations, Ashley!!  Went and enjoyed pizza at the Sports Page with family afterwards.  Carter sure knows how to get someone to give him more money for arcade games.

Saturday was not a good day for Carlee….poor girl.  Sometimes she gets car sick, and we were almost to Medford when projectile vomiting started.  It actually hit the back of my seat….ewe…..  I was on the phone at the time straightening out last-minute details with my brother about a song I wanted him to burn to a CD for my grandma’s urn burial at 10:00 am.  Thankfully, Jay was able to handle cleaning it up all by himself.    Seeing that vomit was everywhere and we were still running on time, we decided to make a quick trip to Wal-Mart, and I ran in and picked up another dress.  Changed her quick and we were on the road again.  Within a few minutes, I heard her say “Mama” in a concerned voice.  I looked back and she did it again.  Not quite as bad, but enough to make her dress a mess.  Cleaned her up and within 5 minutes, it happened a 3rd time!  You gotta be kidding me!  We were actually close to Ogema so Jay called my dad and filled him in on what was happening and we had to make an emergency pit stop at his house before we went to the cemetery.  It wasn’t a quick stop either.  Needless to say, I was calling my dad at 10:00 (which is when the burial was suppose to start) telling him we probably weren’t going to make it cause we were still in Ogema.  He assured me they’d wait for us, and they did.  What a morning!  It wasn’t easy saying another final good-bye to Grandma.  But she is finally at rest now next to my Grandpa and one of my uncles.  I even visited Jeff Uhren’s resting place that day too.  It doesn’t seem like he’s been gone for almost 20 years.

Saturday night, we had my cousin Lisa and her daughter, Margie from Minneapolis visit and spend the night.  The kids absolutely love their company. Carter told me “This is the 2nd time Lisa and Margie are spending the night!”…and he was right.  Kids have such good memories!

Sunday, we had another busy day.  We went to Boyd parade and fair.  Carlee rode her first fair rides.  She didn’t exactly smile while riding, but she definitely wasn’t afraid.  I think she was just taking it all in.  She screamed each time I made her get off the ride.  I remember when Carter did this also, so I guess I can’t blame her for just “being Carlee” again.   After that, we went to Larry & Rhonda’s for some supper and enjoyed some nice conversations.  It’s always nice as a stay-at-home mom to have some adult conversations.

I thought I was going to finally get some planting done on Monday, when my husband hops on Craigslist and finds a wooden swing set nearby that was in our desirable price range.  We’ve been looking for a couple of months now.  We’ve been wanting another one to attach to the one we already have because we only have one swing on that one.  Doesn’t work very well when the almost 2-yr old doesn’t want to swing in the baby swing anymore.  Therefore, by 10, we were on the road to Mosinee.  Thankfully our trailer was big enough that we didn’t have to disassemble the whole thing.  It took 5 of us to lift it up and get it on the trailer.  We get home and I ask Jay, “How are we getting this thing off?”  He said he hadn’t figured that part out yet.    Okay…..  Well, it wasn’t much longer after we pulled into the driveway, that our help had surprisingly arrived.  Good timing….thank you Kaszubowski’s!

So, Carter is back to school for his final week and Carlee and I didn’t blow away this morning, but we were outside most of the morning planting in the garden and mowing the lawn.  We did get a little rain, but not much (wish it were more for my freshly planted seeds and trees).    In the last two weeks, we planted 3 willow trees, 11 maple trees and one flowering crab apple, as well as the rest of our veggies in the garden.  I dug up what looks like a  couple of starters from my lilac tree to see if those will grow too.  Planted 4 different varieties of pumpkins and also trying out "turtle" gourds this year.  In the planting mood!!  Soon, I’ll plant all the seeds that I started a couple months ago…..yay!

Ya know, I always wonder if I’ll have enough to say in this blog and when I start writing, it just keeps coming……lol   Sorry this one was so long!!

I like this one of Rhonda.  She was the first one to catch a fish.  Who cares if it was small....the kids loved it!

Carter's first catch of the evening.

Carlee wasn't afraid one bit to touch that fish.  Not sure if she planned on wiping some boogies on him or what....lol

Carter caught another fish!  He ended up catching 6 that night.

Pictures & Videos

This weekend flew by pretty quickly.  Friday, we had Carter’s last “4K Family Outreach Day”. L  The kids met at the school pond and did some exploring and made bird feeders to bring home.   Carter was the only one to catch a frog (see pic below).   After that, we all met at the Marathon Library for a few spring stories.  That ‘Miss Levonne’ does a very nice job with her exciting stories for the kids.  Then we decided to take a trip to surprise Jay’s mom and Larry with a visit.  Carlee slept in a “big girl” bed on Friday night.  It didn’t go as smoothly as I hoped, or how easily Carter made the adjustment;  I really didn’t expect it to either…not with this child.  Saturday, we met my dad in Edgar.  He had some goodies to give me and then we went in and had a brunch.   We also took a trip to Fleet Farm in Wausau, which was a huge mistake.  It was terribly busy there; could hardly find a parking spot.  Today, we stayed home and just had some family time.   Hope you all enjoy the photos and videos.

Carter wanting to ride again, the next day.

Carlee wants a turn too, but her feet aren't even close to touching the pedals.

My "flowers" picked by my ever-so-dear son.

Carlee's static hair.  See video below.

Carlee went and put Carter's firehat on all by herself.  (Carter and his class visited the Marathon Fire Department a few months ago and they handed out these souvenirs.)

This girl loves to swing.

He was starting to fall backwards here because of the way he decided to grab the swing.

It was actually warm enough for the kids to wear tank tops and shorts.
Hit 82 degrees!  Yippee!

It wasn't raining (yet), so I guess we can say she was using it to block the sun.  ha ha

Carlee was so happy to be using the phone.

Jay took this picture about 6 in the morning.  You can't tell but I'm underneath her facing the opposite direction (she's laying on my legs).  Let's just say she finally looked comfortable, so I wasn't going anywhere.
